Hartford Convention delegates from Boston are chosen.

August 6, 1812

Delegates are chosen at a meeting at Faneuil Hall include merchant George Cabot, Timothy Bigelow, Harrison Gray Otis and William Prescott. Mary Caroline Crawford later writes, “Just as Boston, and the other seaport towns, were keen supporters of the Revolutionary War – because . . . the policy of George the Third threatened their maritime interests, so these merchants and tradesmen were quite lacking in enthusiasm for the War of 1812, which also interfered with their success as business men.”
